“ . . . among genuine believers, the greatest consolation of all comes from focusing on Christ” (D.A. Carson, Scandalous, p.129).
How else can we find true comfort in life? We cannot escape pain and sorrow. We cannot convince ourselves that we are somehow unscathed by the tragedies of life. To find true comfort, we must keep our gaze on Christ, who alone cares for us so much that he provides comfort, all the time, through any hurts and pains we might experience in life.
